Adding a MicroStrategy page or block to a Drupal portal

Once you have deployed and enabled the MicroStrategy module, you can add MicroStrategy pages to your Drupal site and you can add MicroStrategy blocks to  pages on your Drupal site.

Note: You can add multiple MicroStrategy blocks to any kind of page on a Drupal site and have these blocks be able to communicate with each other. However, If you want a Drupal page that looks and acts just like a portal page, the recommended practice is to install the Homebox module for Drupal and add your MicroStrategy blocks to a Homebox page. This requires that you have added the Homebox module to your Drupal content management system.

Instructions for how to add a MicroStrategy page or block are provided below.

Adding a MicroStrategy page

To add a MicroStrategy page to your Drupal site, do the following:

  1. Log in to Drupal as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Administrator -> Site building -> MicroStrategy -> Pages.

  3. Click Add Page and do the following:

    1. For Page Title, enter the title of the page.

    2. For Path, specify the URL by which the page can be accessed.

Note: Use a relative path and don't add a trailing slash; otherwise, the URL alias will not work correctly.

    1. Check the Create a menu entry check box to create an entry for this page on the menu.

    2. Select roles for the page.

Note: If you do not choose any roles, then only roles that have ‘administer site configuration’ permission or ‘administer microstrategy’ permission can view the page.

    1. Click Add page.

The new MicroStrategy page is added to the list of pages.

Adding a MicroStrategy block

To add a MicroStrategy block to a page on your Drupal site, do the following:

  1. Log in to Drupal as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Administrator -> Site building -> MicroStrategy -> Blocks.

  3. Do the following:

    1. For Name, enter the name of the block.

    2. Note: The block you are adding is a specific instance of one of the two MicroStrategy block objects. The name identifies this specific block instance.

    3. For Type, specify whether you are adding a basic MicroStrategy block or a master MicroStrategy block.

    4. For Operations, click Add block.

The new MicroStrategy block is added to the list of blocks.
